TNPSC group 1 exam is conducted by the Tamil Nadu public service commission for recruiting candidates. There are 4 group exams namely group 1, group 2, group 3 and group 4 that are conducted to select candidates for the position available in Tamil Nadu State administration. 

An Overview of TNPSC Group 1 exam

TNPSC group 1 exam takes place in three stages namely preliminary exams, main papers and the final interview. The first stage is a preliminary exam in which you have to attend multiple choice questions for 300 marks. The mains exam will be 750 marks and in the final round interview, you will be able to score 100 marks.

The TNPSC chairman is Dr.K.Arulmozhi and the board comprises 14 members. The combined civil services exam is conducted by the Tamil Nadu public service commission and select candidates for group 1 services. TNPSC group 1 salary

The top level officers will have a pay scale of rs 15600 to 39100. The grade pay is rupees 4400 as per the 2016 notification. The gross salary is around 42 48000 excluding the deduction.

Technical job and salary in Group 1 exam

  • For the post of assistant engineer the salary will be ranging from 19000 to 46000.
  • For the post of assistant motor vehicle inspector the salary is around 15000 to 40000. 
  • For the industrial promotion officer the salary is from 16000 to 42000. the assistant Conservator of forest will get around 50,000 and starting salary is 25000. 

There are non-technical jobs under group 1 exam and salary details for specified below

  • The deputy collector will get around 50,000 and the salary starts from 27000.
  • 20000 is the starting salary for deputy superintendent of police category II and the maximum salary he or she can earn is 46960. 
  • The commercial tax officer will have a minimum pay of 20680 and the maximum salary is 46960. 
  • The regional transport officer will earn within the range of 19050 to 45850.
  • The deputy registrar of cooperative societies can earn upto 43630 while the initial salary is 18030. 
  • The district Panchayat officer salary starts from 19050 and the maximum pay is 45850.
  • The district register will get around 21820 to 48120. 
  • The deputy superintendent of jails will get around 45850 as a maximum pay while the initial pay is 19050. 
  • The municipal commissioner grade 2 will get around 42590 and the initial pay is 16850. The same pay is assigned to other jobs like lay secretary and treasure guide II, assistant treasury officer / assistant account officer assistant auditor and and mandal Parishad development officer
  • A district social welfare officer can get up to 43630 while the initial pay is 18030. This remains the same for district employment officers as well.

TNPSC group 1 exam eligibility

Some of the eligibility criteria include citizenship character and antecedents physical health age limit and regional language excellence.

Age limit

  • The minimum age limit for all the posts under TNPSC is 21 years and the maximum age varies based on the post available and the category of the candidates. 
  • For the posts available under TNPSC recruitment the age limit for SC ST MBC DC BC and BCM, DW category remains the same which is 37 years. 
  • Other applicants who are not from the above mentioned category will have 32 years of age limit. 
  • The age limit relaxation is up to 10 years for differently abled people and for ex servicemen the age limit is 48 years. If the ex serviceman comes under SC ST MBC BC then the age limit is 53 years.
